La Moraleja is technically not Madrid — it sits in the municipality of Alcobendas, about 15 km north of the city via the A-1 motorway — but it functions as the international corporate family's default answer to "where do we live while our kids go to school in English?" The district is a collection of gated residential estates developed from the 1970s onward, with villas on 1,000–5,000 m² plots, private gardens, pools, and the highest concentration of English- and other foreign-language international schools in all of Spain (ICS, Runnymede, King's College, Brewster, Colegio Base, the Lycée Français Saint-Exupéry campus — all within 1 km of each other). It is suburban in the American sense, not the Spanish: you drive everywhere, the streets are leafy, and the social fabric runs through the school gates and the Club de Campo La Moraleja golf clubhouse.
